Changed By Music, LLC Music Therapy is defined by the American Music Therapy Association as "the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program."

Basically, Music Therapy uses music to help children reach non-musical, functional goals. We do not work on musical goals (it is not a music lesson), but rather use music as a therapeutic tool to focus on non-musical goals that will help the child function in life outside of the music therapy setting.

Music is used to facilitate change and growth in the areas of:
  • Motor skills, coordination, and movement
  • Speech/receptive and expressive communication
  • Cognition
  • Social/emotional skills
  • Self-image and self-expression
  • Sensory integration
...Through the use of interventions such as:
  • Instrument Play
  • Singing or Chanting
  • Song Writing
  • Drumming
  • Music and Movement
  • Musical Interactions
